'My wife finally admitted why she fell in love with me - it's nonsense'

When it comes to picking a partner, everyone has a check list whether it's conscience or not.

And at the top of most people's list is 'kindness and compassion towards others'.

That's exactly why one woman fell head over heels for her husband - and the reason why she agreed to take his hand in marriage.

Speaking to Reddit, the husband explained how he unknowingly won his future wife over when they first started dating.

He said: "My wife just admitted a major reason why she fell in love with me. It's because I sing to our dogs all the time about everything and anything.

"My 17-year-old minpin has been hearing it her whole life and even though she can't see or hear very well, she relaxes and goes to sleep when I sing to her."

Despite having a "horrible voice", the man makes his songs up on the stop, usually involving his pets' names to give them a more personal touch.

He added: "The songs are utter nonsense. I have found the only two creatures in the world that appreciate my singing, and the only woman in the world who would fall in love with me because of it."

While some users asked whether his wife ever joins in, others shared their own stories about their singalongs with their pets.

One user said: "I sing to one of my rescues all the time. When I picked her up from the kill shelter, she gently cried the whole way home. I had some Rod Stewart on and sang along with the songs and she calmed right down.

"Her song is called "Daddy loves you", the lyrics change often but all 70lbs of her will usually go straight to sleep in my arms when I start singing. Dogs are the best, my wife is cool too."

Another added: "What a beautiful story! You are a lucky man to have a woman fall in love with you because you sing to your dogs. And she’s a lucky woman to have found you.

"Your singing shows her what a kind and gentle heart you have, and you are secure enough in yourself not to feel your manhood is being threatened that you can sing gibberish in a lousy voice in front of her.

"The fact you love your dogs is a big plus. So what’s not to love? I’m falling in love with you myself! Your little family is very lucky to have each other.

"It’s clear you’re doing it right since your minpin is 17! That’s awesome! Stay safe and thank you for sharing such a heartwarming story. You made me smile tonight."

A third user said: "Dogs are the best. I sing to my dog and he is happy about it but when I sing to my cat, he just freaks out and runs away."
