'My TV will be self-isolating' - Fans fume as BBC picks Match of the Day replacement

With the coronavirus pandemic finally causing the FA and Premier League to finally fall in line with the rest of Europe and suspend matches in England, it means that a beloved institution will not be appearing on Saturday night.

The BBC have confirmed that Match of the Day will not be airing on Saturday evening.

Instead, something much, much worse has been selected (in the eyes of a number of football fans...)

Bruce: Playing games behind closed doors not the answer

Rather than the BBC's flagship football programming airing highlights from years gone by or putting on a potential discussion programme, a re-run of Mrs Brown's Boys will be aired - ans fans were not happy.

The news came as yet another disappointing moment for a number of football fans, who have seen the season postponed with no concrete date looking likely for a return.

Premier League matches have been postponed until at least April 3, but in all likelihood that date will be extended, with some reports stating that football may not be back until September should the virus continue to spread.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was the first figure in the Premier League to test positive for the virus.

But since then, Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi has also confirmed that he has been suffering from the virus, while a number of other people connected to the league are under self-isolation.
