'My puppy has an aggressive foot fetish - I can no longer walk around barefoot'

Welcoming a puppy into your home is a big deal - and causes most owners to change up their usual routine to accommodate for their new pet.

While some owners start waking up an hour earlier to get a dog walk in before work, others have to completely switch up their lifestyle and put a stop to their old habits.

One woman has taken to Reddit to explain how she can no longer walk around her house barefoot after her 10-week-old puppy developed an aggressive foot fetish.

She said: "My puppy has a foot fetish, particularly with my feet.

"I understand he is 10-weeks-old and in the thick of the biting everything phase - but he doesn’t seem to attack my partner's feet.

"For two days, he kind of let my dressed feet go. After all, black socks become boring after a while, right?

"Except today, he saw my toes in the nude and went crazy!

"He took away the joy of walking barefoot in my home because he will run after my toes and not only does he try to bite them, he switches to licking them."

It is when she tries to distract her puppy away from her feet with toys that he ramps things up a notch and starts aggressively licking them.

The woman added: "It feels super weird and gross. I'm not judging actual foot fetishists, just not my thing.

"I told the puppy 'we don’t allow foot fetishes in this house' and he basically play growled at me and kept licking in between my toes until my partner picked him up so I could put some socks on!"

While most users laughed at her unusual situation, others shared their own experiences with their pets having a fascination with their bear feet.

One user said: "Its not really the same thing but my kitten was really into toes when she was going through her teething phase.

"The only thing that helped was absolutely ignoring her (the cat) unless it really hurt then I removed her from where I was.

"It took a month but she got the hint. I would try to keep redirecting or separating him from you when he does it."

In response, the woman added: "The nipping hurts for sure and I try to ignore it and power through it until I find myself swearing like a sailor in my native language, that’s when I redirect or remove myself.

"The licking doesn’t hurt and it’s actually proof his training is going well, love it when he licks my hands and such, but when he licks my toes I feel so weird and yucky.

"I just want to run away and I can’t really ignore it and he just looks at me like 'you taught me not to bite but lick instead so what’s your problem'."

The user replied: "My cat does that too. Licking is a very weird thing to feel. I'd put him in timeout every time he licks your toes so he knows he's not supposed to lick there"
