Being a picky eater can be a struggle, especially if you're doing your best to broaden your food horizons but just can't find something that you enjoy eating.
But one man was left so frustrated with his food-fussy girlfriend that he stormed out of the restaurant they were eating in - leaving her to pick up the bill and even find her own way home.
The man explained his girlfriend has always been a picky eater, and when they went on a date to a new restaurant, she turned her nose up at most of the menu. She ended up ordering the same thing as her boyfriend, but when it arrived, she refused to take a single bite.
When she eventually tried the food, she hated it, but instead of politely explaining she wasn't a fan, her boyfriend claims she demanded the waiter take the food back because it was "awful".
The man said he was so embarrassed by her display that he got up and left the restaurant, despite being her ride home.
In a post on Reddit, he said: "My girlfriend and I were at a restaurant and she was extremely not fond of the menu (she has no dietary restrictions or vegan, she's just a picky eater). She ordered anyways and wanted to get the same thing I did.
"She hated it before even taking the first bite, and I kept telling her to at least try it. She took a bite and gave me a gagging face. She continued to complain about the food and critique it while I was eating and people were watching and it was pretty embarrassing. What shocked me is that she got up to the waiter and loudly expressed him to take it back and she doesn't want it anymore and it was awful.
"I got fed up, I left and got in my car and went home.
"She noticed and called me while I was driving and I went home and called her back and told her what she did was embarrassing as f**k. She was crying and told me to f**k off and called me an a**hole and all other sorts of names. She had someone pick her up from the restaurant but she told me when she got home that I have to pay her back for the food. After an argument, I asked her to leave and I haven't spoken to her since."
Commenters on the post slammed both the man and his girlfriend, as while they agreed her behaviour was rude, they also said he shouldn't have abandoned her without at least footing his portion of the bill first.
One person said: "She was being a brat, but you left her there when you were her ride. You could have waited for her outside or something. You both need to grow up. What a ridiculous thing to break up over."
While another added: "Both of you need to learn how to behave in public but who leaves their girlfriend stranded at a restaurant? You are the much bigger a**hole in this situation. Not only did you abandon her without a car at a restaurant but also stuck her with the bill."
