'My neighbours host gigantic parties every other weekend - I lost my cool big time'

Noisy neighbours can be a nightmare, but there's not much you can do about it unless they're causing a commotion in unsociable hours.

But when one person became "tired of being walked all over", they kicked off with those living next door - and it was due to their party hosting every other weekend when the weather warms up.

They explained that in the past, they had a good relationship with the neighbour, but after several years of summer parties, they admitted that they were "just about done" with the behaviour.

In a fit of rage, they told their neighbours to "go to hell", and a lot worse - but they regret letting their temper get the better of them.

They took to Reddit to vent, writing: "So my family lives next to a house where, during the warm season, they like to throw big parties about every other Saturday. This gets to be really grating once they go past 10pm. I've been friendly with them in the past, even going over and accepting food. But after several years of this I'm just about done.

"I don't buy that they don't realise this bothers people; they've been called on for noise complaints before. They're seeing how far they can take it before a neighbour says something."

And the original poster did feel the need to say something, claiming they said "a lot. Too much."

They continued: "After a heated argument with my sister and several hours of bassy music later, I completely lost my cool. I stormed outside, ran to the fence, and screamed at them: Go to bed, go to hell, it's almost midnight, I've tried asking you politely before and you didn't listen, f**k you guys."

Their sister followed them outside and apologised on their behalf, and apparently the man who owns the house was "understanding enough" about the outburst.

"But they're still partying now", they fumed. "The dog is barking. Kids are kicking balls into the fence. I called about a noise complaint. Nothing.

"I realise of course that I could have made my annoyance clearer with them from the start, so that this attack didn't seem like it came out of nowhere. But the continual lack of respect has been so galling."

At the end of the post, they admitted they weren't happy with themselves for losing their cool, but they were sick of the noise.

In the comments, people sympathised, with one writing: "I hear you. We've all lost our s**t at someone after reaching a breaking point. It happens. I still carry guilt over some of the things I've said to people out of anger that I can't really make right.

"Constant noise intrusion on your home is really invasive and beyond unsettling. Especially if you have communicated your frustrations before and it just continues with blatant disregard for you and other people. I hope you're able to find some peace now and in the future. Neighbours suck."

Someone else said they should "call the police" as it was so late.
