If you're not home when a parcel gets delivered, it's not unusual for the courier to attempt to hand your package over to a neighbour so that you can easily pick it up without having to schedule a re-delivery.
But one man was left fuming when he discovered his neighbour had thrown away the parcel that was supposed to be delivered to him because she thought it looked "suspicious".
The man explained that the package wasn't actually a delivery but was an item that his colleague was dropping off at his house because he'd left it at work. However, his colleague accidentally left the package outside the wrong house, and when the man realised what had happened, he went over to his neighbour to pick it up.

The man's neighbour was less than thrilled about the unexpected package though, as she told him she had thrown it in the bin because it looked "suspicious" and threatened to "report" him and his company.
In a post on Reddit, the baffled man wrote: "Am I crazy or is this an overreaction?
"I forgot something at work on Friday and had a colleague drop it off for me yesterday at my house. He went to the wrong house and dropped it outside the door of my neighbour. (It's one of those roads that changes name at the junction and the SatNav takes you to the junction).
"After realising it's not at my door I head down to my neighbours to collect it and knock on the door. My colleague was in work uniform when he dropped it off, and she threatens to report us and the company for dropping off suspicious packages. I explain I live up the road and point to my house, she doesn't care and says 'he should've at least knocked on the door before leaving' because it's extremely rude. I remind her that he thought he was at my house so why would he have knocked? She still seems unhappy but tells me if I want my package it's in the bin and I'm free to get it.
"Not only is it in the outside bin for collection but she has put it under a couple of bags so I have to dig down for it, she has also moved the bin out into the street despite it not being bin day until the next day. The whole experience has left a bit of a sour taste as I don't think I would do that in a million years.
"A day later and I'm still annoyed. Am I overreacting?"
In a later post, the man clarified the item in question was a drill and that it had been dropped off in a carrier bag, so was not a properly marked package with his address on it.
Commenters on the post were largely on the neighbour's side though, as many said that from her point of view, a strange parcel being left on her doorstep would seem rather suspicious - especially if no one knocked on her door.
One person said: "When your title said 'package' I thought that you meant it was a properly addressed parcel. However later on you said it was something in a carrier bag. Yeah if it was me I would have probably binned it as well.
"If you came around asking for it, I wouldn't have been a**ey, but my first thought would have been that someone has just dumped some s**t on my doorstep that I now need to get rid of."
While another added: "So you know your house is confusing to find but you didn't tell your mate this? If I found a carrier bag with a drill in it on my doorstep, I'd assume it had been nicked and dumped. I certainly wouldn't keep hold of it on the off chance that someone turned up to claim it."
And a third posted: "I see both sides of this to be honest. Nobody is really at fault. I don't think I'd have put it in the bin but I probably wouldn't have acted much differently if someone in a suit had left an unlabelled package outside my door."
