'My neighbour's kids are making me lose my mind – I can't sleep due to excessive noise'

Neighbours are accustomed to being excessively loud - especially those that reside in apartments.

Unfortunately, as one woman has expressed online, living in such close proximity to your neighbours can come with its disadvantages.

Taking to popular forum site Mumsnet, an anonymous user admitted that she's "losing her mind" due to her neighbour's children "screaming" and "slamming balls" against her bedroom walls.

Due to it now affecting her lack of sleep, she has sought advice from people online, questioning: "Am I being unreasonable to absolutely be losing my mind at the amount of noise the neighbour's kids make?!"

The woman explained: "I live in an apartment. Of course, it's not going to be silent. I can hear their dog barking/crying, kids crying, screaming. I don't mind any of this particularly and know it's part of apartment living.

"But it's the constant banging and thudding. It shakes our apartment and could be heard/felt in every room. They obviously have hard floors and haven’t put rugs down. I am going mad.

"They are clearly playing ball games, slamming balls against our bedroom walls. I have asked them to keep noise down but nothing has changed.

"Myself and my partner work long hours. We just want some peace. They started at it this morning at 8am, just as I got in the bath to relax. I just think it is soo inconsiderate on a Sunday morning.

"Unfortunately, we're tied into a contract for 18 months," she added.

Since sharing her concerns online, the woman's post was inundated with responses - where people sympathised with the Mumsnet user.

One person wrote: "You are not being unreasonable and it annoys me when people say this is normal/acceptable living noise. Bouncing balls on someone’s ceiling, running, banging about shouting, etc is so obnoxious and makes people's life a living hell."

"You are not being unreasonable but I think to a certain extent you're right, it's just part of living in a block of flats," a second person agreed.
