'My neighbour leaves me mocking notes after waking me up at 5am - I'm livid'

A man is fuming with his neighbours who 'stomp' around the house at unsociable hours and use a drill at 5am. Things got even more heated when the people living next door taunted him with a 'mocking' note over the ordeal, leaving him even more furious.

All week, his neighbours have been drilling or banging around the place either late at night or early in the morning. Initially, he wondered if they were OK and even went over to see how they were.

He soon regretted his kind gesture when the neighbours proceeded to wake him up again at 5am with loud drilling, followed with a cheeky note stuck on his door mocking the situation.

Taking to Reddit, he added that he went to confront his neighbours but they never answer the door.

In the post, the man, who remained anonymous, wrote: "Four days ago I had kindly asked the upstairs neighbours if everything was ok after I had heard continuous stomping and banging late at night, two nights in a row (from around 10:00 - 11:30pm). The next day, they left a note on my door saying that they were sorry and everything was fine.

"At 5am the next morning, to around 12pm, they started hammering on their walls above the bedroom, jumping on the floor and slamming doors."

At first he tried to convince himself they were doing something important and there must be a good reason for the noise.

But when he got back home from work one night he was in for a shock.

"However, when very sleep deprived I came back from work at 10pm to a note: A smiley face with its tongue poking out on my door. Mocking me," he said.

"After seeing the note I was absolutely livid. I knocked on their door multiple times out of anger to ask what there problem was. I waited, waited, but no answer."

"Due to them not wanting to speak to me, I have contacted the landlord. I am now thinking about going to the council. I want to move ASAP as I don't want to live fuelled with anger. I want to end my tenancy early. My neighbours are noisy and inconsiderate and that note was the last straw."

In response, many were quick to offer their take on the situation.

One person wrote: "Next time you hear knocking, maybe knock back or next time you see them ask them what their problem is."

While another stated: "I'm sorry you have to go through this."

A third penned: "Your landlord has a positive duty to protect your right to peaceful enjoyment of your living space."
