'My neighbour leaves his dog outside most of the day - I want to report him'

A lot of us will have neighbours with dogs and often you will find yourself caring about the dog and wandering how they are getting on, especially when you see them playing outside.

But one man wants to report his neighbour who leaves his dog on the porch for many hours of the day and night in the cold weather, much to his concern.

Taking to Reddit, the man, who remained anonymous, explained that his neighbour has recently got a German Shepherd but he has noticed that the dog is outside on the porch an awful lot of the time and is concerned that the dog might have even developed hip issues because of this.

In the post, the man explained: "Ever since he got the dog he’s kept the poor thing on his porch.

"It’s never been for a full 24 hours but it’s a lot of the day and night. To top it off, I’m pretty sure the dog has severe hip problems because of this treatment."

The man continued by saying that he has even told his building's management about the neighbour and has thought of calling animal control but is unsure whether they are the best people who can help.

He said: "I’m seriously so upset by this.

"It’s been super cold the last week and he’s been on the porch so much. I’ve seen no dog bed, blankets, food or water, he had a kennel but it was way too small for him to lay down comfortably.

"I’m not sure if the police will do anything but at this point, I’m willing to do anything. I’ve considered writing notes but will that really do anything?"

In response, many people have shown support for the man and made suggestions about what he can do to get help for the dog next door.

One person wrote: "Call animal control. The lack of food and water is clear neglect. Get pics if you can, the more documentation the better."

While another said: "Get photos and video in case he happens to have him set up nicely. Show that it’s a pattern. You may also want to leave an anonymous note on his door."
