'My neighbour has blocked my car in for years - I have to crawl in boot to get inside'

A woman has got so fed up with the bitter two-year parking row with her neighbour that she's decided to get her own back.

Issues arose when the bloke next door left aggressive notes on her car telling her not to use her own parking bay as he struggled to fit his motor next to hers.

Given her bay is closeted by walls, if anyone parks close to her it can block her in, which is exactly what her neighbour has done for years - forcing her to take action.

In a Reddit post, the woman explained that she once had to crawl through her car in order to reach the driver's seat as he had blocked her in so much. So she decided to give him a taste of his own medicine by parking across all the bays so he could not park near her.

The woman, who remained anonymous, wrote: "We knew that if someone was in the bay next to ours, we should just always park elsewhere & use our bay when there was room to drive in.

"Enter the neighbour. For months, he left us aggressive notes demanding we stop using our own bay because he couldn't fit. Instead of parking elsewhere like we would do when he visited, he proceeded to park 1/3 in the bay, deliberately blocking us in and stopping us leaving our home."

After a while she opted to pay for other parking so as to avoid the confrontation with him.

She said: "After two and a half years since this began, I bought a new car. I didn't want to pay for additional parking/damages, so I used my own bay. Of course I immediately was getting blocked in (at one point I had to crawl through my boot, take my handbrake off & physically pull the car out of the bay) Enough!

"I parked right down the middle of our two bays and blocked him out the area entirely.

"When I went to my car I had notes from him telling me that 'on behalf of all residents' (it wasn't) I need to park elsewhere/move over (so I can be blocked) - it was an attempt to blame me in front of the other cars as an excuse for what he later did - he had parked horizontally in front of my car, blocking all residents from moving."

She now feels people are blaming her for his parking even though they do not know the grief she has been given.

So she has since informed her building management who have switched the bays to first come, first served.

In response, many felt the neighbour was in the wrong but she could have dealt with this differently and it did not have to go on for so long.

One person wrote: "You should have immediately taken this issue to your building manager years ago. Especially when it escalated to you being blocked in, which becomes a safety issue."

Another stated: "Park in your spot and only your spot and take it up with building management if anyone else is in your spot."
