'My neighbour catcalls me every time I leave my house, I feel like a piece of meat'

A woman is growing increasingly irritated with a male neighbour who harasses her every time she leaves the house.

She is not certain of which neighbour it is but she hears a man shout "damn" at her and he will even yell louder when she is walking alone at night.

The woman is frustrated and unsure what to do as she is moving away soon for other reasons so does not know whether to leave it, speak to her landlord, or even try to find the culprit.

She normally tries to ignore catcalls but finds this too much to get past.

Taking to Reddit, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "I live alone with room mates in a house that rents out single rooms. I've been living here for two years now and most of the road are houses that are renting out single rooms.

"Recently I have some random male neighbour that always makes a point to yell "Damn!" whenever I leave my house and it has been irritating me."

She added that the only time he does not shout down to her is when she has an Uber waiting or she is sorting the washing.

"I ignore catcalls but it's annoying when it's a guy that lives near me and waits for me to walk out my door and then treats me like a piece of meat," she said.

"I really want to see who it is exactly and confront him but I'm planning to move for other reasons. Is it even worth it to contact my landlord, confront him head on (really prefer this) or just ignore until I leave?"

In response, many have offered their advice to the woman.

One person wrote: "If you're leaving sooner rather than later than I would ignore. Wear headphones when you go out."

While another stated: "Just yell leave me alone. It doesn't need to be some big confrontation."
