'My nan taught me a secret weapon to beat frizzy hair - it's gross but it works'

If you're looking to get silkier hair, it can be a real labour of love. You'll likely have tried multiple methods and found some that are more successful than others, but if you're still looking for a go-to way to achieve the look you want, listen up.

One woman took to TikTok to share her perfect "frizz-free" hair method that her nan used to use on her when she was a kid- and she said the home remedy's results are worth the gross smell that comes with it.

A user known as 'Lifegamer' on TikTok shared a video where she has a bonnet covering her hair, locking in the moisture from the hair mask, and she shared what was in the mix.

She said: "We only had the oatmeal, egg, and mayo growing up but the banana helps mask the mayo. Hair do be frizz-free and silky after though!"

Over the top of the video, where she had the hair mask in, she wrote: "Me forcing myself to put mayo, one raw egg, aloe vera, white rice, oatmeal, and half a banana as a hair mask, because when my grandma used to do it to me as a kid I had the longest, silkiest, frizz-free hair ever."

She recommended doing it once every three weeks to get best results.

She'd captioned the video: "The mayo smell is what gets me", followed by a vomiting face.

In the comments, people were shocked by the combination of ingredients, with one pointing out that you'd need to rinse your hair with cold water so the "egg doesn't cook."

Someone said: "First time making a banana hair mask I didn't know you had to blend it and so I spent hours getting it out of my hair with a lice comb", followed by a crying emoji.

Another wrote: "I remember doing this for every wash day, but when the mixture would start DRIPPING down my face and neck, I couldn't handle it anymore."

Would you try this mask? Let us know in the comments.
