When you've had a long day at work, sometimes all you want to do is chill and grab some leftovers from the fridge, heat them up, and get to bed as soon as possible.
But when one confused person did that after a long shift, the last thing they expected was to receive criticism for their actions - but that's exactly what happened to one tired shifter.
They got home at around 1.30am, "grabbed a container that had some fried rice and chicken in it, not labelled" and chowed down on the delicious food.
But at 2am, they were rudely awoken by their mother who was pounding on the door, demanding to know what happened to the leftovers.

They took to Reddit's 'Am I the a**hole' forum to ask whether they were in the wrong for taking the food.
They wrote: "I worked the closing shift at work last night, and so ended up getting home around 1:30 am. When I got home, I was feeling a bit hungry and decided to see what we had in the fridge as far as leftovers go from dinner last night.
"I grabbed a container that had some fried rice and chicken in it, not labeled, the exact same type of plastic container that leftovers usually go into. There was no indication whatsoever that it belonged to anyone else, so I threw it into the microwave and ate it, washed the container, then went to bed.
"Cut to about 20 minutes ago, my mother pounds on my door, waking me up, then barges in and asks if I ate the leftovers from the fridge last night. I say yes, to which she responds, 'thanks a**hole, that was going to be my lunch for today', then slams the door immediately after I apologise and say I didn't know.

"Now I feel really guilty for not just grabbing something else and eating that instead, but I'm really torn because at the same time, there was absolutely nothing indicating that it was hers, and I can't read minds so I had no clue she was going to eat it for lunch today. Am I the a**hole?"
In the comments, people defended them, saying that their mum had been way too harsh with them.
One wrote: "If that dish was different than all the others that are always up for grabs, your mom should have put a note on it- don't eat, this is my lunch. Her reaction was over the top and rude considering she contributed to the misunderstanding."
Another fumed: "If she wanted it, LABEL IT."
Someone else said: "Your mum probably didn't predict that you'd eat it so she didn't label it, but she shouldn't have gotten so angry.
"And she should be understanding that you came home late last night and were hungry, and it's not like you would've had the energy to make something. And it's not that hard to throw a sandwich together or maybe just this once she could've gotten lunch from outside."
