'My mother-in-law wants me to cut all carbs and sugars from my diet - I refuse'

A pregnant woman is fuming with her mother-in-law after she suggested she cut all carbs and sugars from her diet.

The woman pointed out that she is a healthy person as is her son, who was also pushed to quit carbs and sugar for a healthier lifestyle.

Taking to Reddit, the woman explained that she had been baking cookies and was having some of the cookie dough mixture when her mother-in-law decided to lay into her about her diet and she was far from impressed about being given the lecture.

In the post, the author, who remained anonymous, explained: "My mother-in-law and her mum are health freaks.

"Every time I see them, especially her mum, they’re always talking about new supplements or how this and that are bad for you.

"The other day we were making Christmas cookies and of course white sugar was not used because it is “horribly unhealthy for you” and so they used some sort of fruit sugar thing."

She went onto explain that when the cookies were in the oven the mother-in-law and her mum were saying how bad it is to eat the cookie dough mixture and that she could harm her baby.

"Then proceeded to say how I’ll feel better and my son will be healthier if I cut off sugars, carbs, and went to eat gluten free things.

"My son and I are healthy. Please stop pushing your diet down my throat and making me feel bad."

In response, many have been supportive of the woman and said the in-laws are acting out of line.

One person wrote: "Your kid doesn’t need to grow up hearing about how sugar is poison/unhealthy and how carbs are bad. It’s not going to set the boy up for a healthy relationship with food."

While another stated: "To be fair, raw cookie dough does carry a risk of salmonella (eggs) and various bacteria (flour) but the rest of it is rubbish."
