'My mission is not over yet': Brazil's Bolsonaro teases political comeback

INSIDE THE AMERICAS © FRANCE 24

Brazil's former president Jair Bolsonaro has often been called the Trump of the Tropics, and this week he made an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference in the US. The former Brazilian president has been living in Florida following his defeat to leftist leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in October of last year. Since then, rumours have been flying about when Bolsonaro might return to Brazil to stage a political comeback. For more, we speak to political analyst Guilherme Casaroes.

Elsewhere, police in the US state of Georgia have filed terror charges against 23 protesters accused of attacking officers at a rally against a planned police training site in Atlanta. Critics claim the centre dubbed "Cop City" will only increase police brutality, while environmental activists say it's also exploiting valuable forest land.

Finally, to mark International Women's Day, we report on a group of single mothers in Venezuela who are going from homemakers to home builders. They're using a government programme to get subsidised new housing. The only catch is that they have to help build the houses themselves.
