'My maw's got a steak pie ready' Glasgow teen stranded in Peru back home

A teenager has landed back home safe in Glasgow after enduring a "nightmare" period of weeks among hundreds of Brits stranded in Peru due to a coronavirus lockdown.

Megan Follen, from Springboig, was unable to leave the South American country after they declared a state of emergency and shut down their borders overnight over two weeks ago.

With Glasgow Live reporting how the 19-year-old found herself among hundreds stuck in Cusco with little help from The British Embassy or The Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Thankfully, following weeks of worry, Megan was able to take a bus to Lima and then find herself a seat on a repatriation flight carrying passengers back to London on Sunday night.

Megan was greeted by her mum after arriving back in Glasgow yesterday afternoon having been travelling for over 25 hours straight, and speaking to Glasgow Live, she said "my maw's got a homemade steak pie ready" to welcome her arrival.

Megan's return came after Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced yesterday that a £75 million fund had been set up to help "tens of thousands" of Brits stuck abroad during amid the coronavirus pandemic to get home.

Mr Raab said the Government would be offering "alternative flights" at "little to no cost" to UK travellers who are trying to get home where routes have been cancelled.
