'My manager' - Arsenal fans back Mikel Arteta after claims of Matteo Guendouzi bust-up in Dubai

Arsenal supporters have taken to social media after Mikel Arteta dropped midfielder Matteo Guendouzi for the 4-0 win over Newcastle.

The 20-year-old was left out of the Arsenal squad entirely for the Premier League clash on Sunday, despite being fully fit and available for selection.

Goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette sealed the comfortable win over Steve Bruce's side, as Arsenal moved back in the top 10.

Speaking after the game, Gunners boss Arteta hinted that he wasn't happy with the midfielder's attitude during the club's training camp in Dubai.

"The reason is that players who, in my opinion, are training better, behaving better and are more applied to deliver on the pitch, what we want, are the players selected," he told beIN Sports.

The midfielder's omission came as a surprise given the France Under-21 international had started Arsenal’s final game before the winter break, a 0-0 draw at Burnley.

But according to The Telegraph, Guendouzi had a heated row with Arteta and his coaching staff in Dubai during a training session, and the argument continued at the team hotel afterwards.

Having missed out against Newcastle, Guendouzi would normally be in contention to return for Arsenal's last-32 Europe League against Olympiacos on Thursday, but it remains to be seen if Arteta hands him an immediate recall.

On Monday, some Arsenal fans reacted to the reports of a bust-up on social media, with many supporting Arteta's hardline stance.

Others believe the episode will be quickly forgotten, and hope that Guendouzi will learn his lesson and make a swift return to the team.

Arteta handed Dani Ceballos a start at the Emirates in Guendouzi's place, and the Gunners boss praised the Spain international for his performance.

"I thought Dani was ideal for this game in that game position today," Arteta said.

"The way he's been training, he completely deserves a chance, and I'm so glad with his performance."
