While a joyous period, Christmas can be a stressful affair as the tensions of having family to stay can boil over. The last thing you want is a last minute spanner in the works that could throw plans into disarray - but that's exactly what one renter got when they received a dreaded text from their 'ridiculous' landlord just days before the big event.
Taking to Reddit to share their Christmas disaster, the renter, who remains anonymous, admitted that they'd been asking their landlord to do some much-needed work on the property for two years. Now, she's finally decided to send someone out to complete the job - on Christmas Day.

The renter shared a heated text exchange between the pair, which they captioned: "My landlady has been promising me a concrete driveway for two years, now. This morning, I got this text from her."
The text from the landlord read: "Good morning, just letting you know the concrete guy will be there early Sunday morning to do the job. I know it's Christmas and most likely you'll be going to someone's house which is fine".
Seething at their landlord's last minute announcement, the renter's reply said: "I'm having people over. This is unacceptable. Not to mention absolutely ridiculous."
People flocked to the comments section on the Reddit post to share their dismay at the sheer inconvenience, as one joked: "She's like the reverse Grinch. She gave you exactly what you asked for at the absolute worse and inconvenient time."
Another added: "How the hell did she even manage to get a contractor to do it xmas day? Most here don't do anything from like the 23rd through to mid January".
After many Redditors offered their advice, urging the renter to push back further, they replied: "She said he’s going out of town and won’t be able to do it after. After talking to her on the phone, she got him to agree to do it tomorrow [23rd].
"Thing is, my front yard abuts a four-lane thoroughfare, and the yard is exactly one car length from house to sidewalk, so while this is being done and for 48 hours afterwards, anyone who want to park has to jump a curb into the yard.
"At least I got her to back off of Christmas. That was just absurd."
One commenter pointed out another issue, claiming: "Just in case you are not aware, there is a 0% chance this gets done the way it needs to in such a short time-period. Concrete needs time to cure (harden) and there is no way in hell it will be done in 48 hours.
"It's going to take, at minimum, 1 week, before you can drive on it (and I'm assuming that it gets done properly). I suspect this job is being done improperly, too, so I'm doubtful on the thickness and curing time."
