Whether we like to admit it or not, there's a hidden and rather gruesome truth about the household sick bowl. While many of us may be scared to admit the household sin, a mum has admitted that her children were disgusted after they were made aware of the bowl's secondary use.
Taking to popular social media app Twitter, Sarah Turner shared that her kids had just discovered that the sick bowl was also the same bowl that they use for cake mix. The mum went on to admit that the bowl's duo use has been in effect all throughout her childhood.
Since posting, Sarah's tweet has raked in over 3,500 comments and the response was rather surprising.
In her tweet online, she wrote: "My kids have just discovered that the family sick bowl and the cake mix bowl are one and the same.
"In my defence, this was also the case when I was growing up … but now I've said it out loud, I realise I need to break the cycle. I won’t be taking any further questions."
Flocking to the comment section, thousands of Twitter users shared their own first-hand stories of their experience with the iconic family bowl.
One user didn't see a fault with the bowl's secondary usage, penning: "Don’t see a problem with that."
They claimed: "I use the same bowl for some cleaning when I don’t want to take a bucket, for sick days or for storing a big batch of cooked macaroni. We wash it each time in the dishwasher. Ready for its next mission."
Meanwhile, a second admitted to the mum's : "Same here. To compound the disgust, it was also the placenta bowl for each of my births."
A different user claimed: "A school teacher cousin of mine accepted a bowl of strawberries from a pupil & reminded him to take the bowl home at the end of school.
"He responded with: 'Yes, it’s the dog’s food bowl so I won’t forget it!'"
A different user wrote: "My mum had 'the wee-wee glass', used for whenever anyone had to take a urine sample to the doctor.
"But for the rest of the time it was a regular glass she’d give to visitors with squash in. She couldn’t understand why my sister and I would descend into hysterics whenever she did!"
