Alan Shearer blasted the decision not to award Diogo Jota a penalty during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday.
With the score locked at 1-1 shortly before half-time the Portuguese forward went down in the box after he was shoved by Spurs full-back Emerson Royal, who made no attempt to play the ball.
However, referee Paul Tierney decided not to award a spot kick.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp later told Sky Sports that Tierney opted not to give the foul because Jota ‘stopped on purpose’ to invite contact.

Former Newcastle striker Shearer was adamant the referee should’ve pointed to the spot.
“That is a penalty all day long. He said whilst analysing the game on Match of the Day.
“The referee’s position is fine, how can the VAR not tell him that should be an absolute stonewall penalty?
Former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas admitted his old club were lucky not to concede a spot kick and branded Royal’s challenge on Jota ‘reckless’.
He added: “My issue is Paul Tierney or one of the other officials mentions to Jurgen Klopp he [Jota] stopped.
“Whether you stop or not it's down to the defender to be smart and to be careful in that moment so even if Diogo Jota has seen the challenge coming and took the hit it’s still a penalty.
“It was a poor reckless challenge.”
Spurs took the lead in a chaotic contest through Harry Kane’s close range strike, but Klopp’s side went in level at the break thanks to Diogo Jota’s header.
The Reds took the lead in the 69th minute after Andy Robertson headed home following a sweeping move, but Son Heung-Min made it 2-2 after capitalising on a rare mistake by Reds stopper Alisson.
Robertson was sent off shortly after Spurs' equaliser following a rash swipe at Emerson Royal.
