I’m unhappy and alone in a marriage of more than 40 years. We live overseas. My husband has a lady friend back home – they grew up together – whom he texts, phones and speaks to in chatrooms. He texts her every morning, and they talk every other day. Her husband knows, too, and is upset as well. Once, my husband left me alone in a restaurant for 10 minutes while he talked to her to “find out if she was OK”. He can’t see why I’m upset and says she is 4,000 miles away, so where is the harm? Am I being oversensitive and paranoid? I don’t want to separate, but I’m not coping: I’ve lost weight and stopped sleeping, and am on antidepressants.
