MY Hospital has maximum IPD conversion of Ayushman beneficiary in MP

INDORE: The MY Hospital, state’s biggest public health facility, has the maximum in-patient department (IPD) conversion of PMJAY-Ayushman beneficiaries in the state.

The health department record suggested that IPD conversion of PMJAY-Ayushman scheme ranged between 53% to 70% in MY Hospital in a month depending upon festivities, seasons, and other factors.

In between July last year to February, the MY Hospital’s cumulative IPD conversion remained at 55%, showed records. IPD conversion of PMJAY-Ayushman beneficiary is the number of patients covered (getting benefits) under the scheme of those total IPD patients.

Similarly, government cancer hospitals had over 50% IPD conversion of Ayushman scheme in the same period. In the MY Hospital alone, over 55,000 beneficiaries under the scheme received treatment since the beginning of the scheme in 2018.

MGMMC Dean, Dr Sanjay Dixit said, “More IPD conversion of Ayushman scheme has a very positive impact on financial sustainability of public health institutes in the long run.”

“There is an incentive for health staffers and hospitals for upgradation and providing better health facilities to beneficiaries”, said Dr Dixit. “It helps in overall betterment of health services, attitude improvement and quality services”, he added.

In 2018, the Ayushman Bharat- a flagship scheme of the Government of India, was launched as recommended by the National Health Policy 2017, to achieve the vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Ayushman Bharat is an attempt to move from a sectoral and segmented approach of health service delivery to a comprehensive need-based health care service.

In the Indore district, IPD conversion of Ayushman beneficiaries in public hospitals remained between 22% to 30% only, that is highest in eight districts of Indore division.

The worst IPC conversion in the scheme in the division was in Dhar district, where it ranged between 3% to 6% only.
