World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has sent fellow Traveller Samson Lee a congratulatory message ahead of the popular prop playing his 150th game for the Scarlets.
Lee will hit the landmark on Sunday in the Guinness PRO14 game against Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun.
And he’ll do so with a words of backing and praise from World Boxing Council heavyweight king Fury ringing in his ears.
Fury, like Lee a proud Traveller, said in a short video posted on the Scarlets Twitter account: “Hey, this is Tyson Fury, aka the Gypsy King.
“I just want to say congratulations to my Gypsy brother, Samson Lee, on having 150 caps for the Scarlets — the first and only Traveller Gypsy in history to have any caps for a country in rugby.
“God bless you, Samson. Well done.”
Lee returns to the Scarlets side after missing last weekend’s Guinness PRO14 match against Munster with a head injury.
Earlier this week the 27-year-old was called back into the Wales squad for the autumn Tests.
Scarlets head coach Glenn Delaney said: “Huge congratulations to Samson on reaching 150 appearances in a Scarlets jersey. He is a huge part of our squad here and a great character to have around the place.
“He has been outstanding for us so far this season and his recall to the Wales squad is just rewards for the work he has put in.”
