'My God, so bad' - Three players in the firing line as Ruud Gullit analyses Tottenham's defeat

Tottenham Hotspur trio Dele Alli, Victor Wanyama and Danny Rose have been slammed by Barcelona legend Ruud Gullit following their display against Ajax.

Mauricio Pochettino's side fell to a 1-0 defeat against the Eredivisie title-chasers in the first leg of their semi-final, where Donny Van de Beek scored the only goal of the game in the first half.

It could have been worse for the north London side as David Neres hit the frame of the goal in the second period, while Tottenham's attack managed just one shot on target during the entire game.

That has left Spurs with work to do in the second leg in Amsterdam in eight days time and history is not on their side, as only one of the previous 17 teams to lose a first-leg of a semi-final at home in a Champions League or European Cup semi-final has advanced - at that was Ajax two decades ago.

Gullit could not hide his despair at a sub-par Tottenham performance, picking out Alli, Wanyama and Rose as three players in particular who failed to compete at their highest level.

"For me, a lot of players were disappointing because I see them every week in the Premier League. Dele Alli, oh my God, technical wise, so bad. Wanyama, my God, Rose," he told BeIn Sports.

"Like I said, I see them every week and I think to myself 'how is that possible?' So many mistakes! I know they're under pressure but with pressure you need to know what to do and they didn't."
