A man has faced a huge backlash from his girlfriend after asking to be paid to look after their son while he is ill and she is at work. The dad took to Reddit to explain that his son is 10-months-old and has been getting sick recently due to a bug going around which has left him needing to stay home to look after his son.
The 28-year-old dad, who remained anonymous, explained in the post: "My girlfriend works a corporate job and is very career-focused. I work for a small business owned by my uncle.
"Our son is in daycare four days a week and my girlfriend's mom [sic] watches him the other day. But, like any baby, he gets sick fairly often and one of us has to stay home with him."
Things have got more difficult recently as the kid has been sick a lot due to a few nasty bugs that have been going around.

The dad continued: "He's had to stay home for five days the past two weeks. I've stayed home with him four of those days.
"Since I don't have any paid time off left, I don't get paid for staying home. My uncle is understanding and my job isn't in jeopardy though, at least not yet.
"After the last day I stayed home with him, I had a conversation with my girlfriend. I asked that she either stay home more often with our son when he's sick, or that she pay me for staying home with him because I am out of paid time off.
"Since our finances are separate, I feel like she's prioritising her career and her money over me and our son."
However, the mum was less than impressed with this and said he does not know how difficult it has been for her going back after maternity leave and since she is getting paid more, it makes sense for her to work the more hours.
In the post, he added: "She said that her money is our money and that she's not going to pay me to stay home with our son because it's not her fault that I ran out of paid time off days.
"She said that women have sacrificed their careers for decades so that the men can go to work, and now those times are changing.
"She thinks I was out of line to even ask such a thing and that if I want to have more money for myself, I can get a part-time job in the evenings when she's done with work"
Many have been quick to judge the author of the post for asking this as he is being asked to look after his own son.
One person wrote: "'Please pay me to take care of my son' sounds reasonable to you?"
While another said: "This one right here!!! Sorry bud but you're a parent and you need to figure out how to take care of your kids and work."
