"My girlfriend identifies as a cat and I'm her caregiver"

A woman, who identifies as a cat, has opened up about what it's like to date a human. Abigail says although she's not sexually attracted to Adam she enjoys him taking care of her.

She usually 'hangs out in her cat bed', and loves head pats from her partner. Abigail and Adam, from Greenville, North Carolina, met on an online dating site. Adam said: "When she first walked into the room I was kind of star-struck, I was like 'oh wow, she's gorgeous."

They both have a preference for all things feline. Adam, 28, likes being a cat caregiver while Abigail, 23, identifies as a kitten.

"I'm pretty much a kitten 24/7," she told the podcast Love Don't Judge. "I wear my ears to work. When I realised I was a kitten, I was 16. When I first started wearing ears I don't think I thought anything of it, I definitely felt more confident when I had them on.

"I love kitten playing because it's my natural personality and what I like from a relationship."

During the podcast, Adam beckons Abigail by saying 'kitten come', she then curled up near his lap. She admitted that she's asexual and not attracted to people. He also prepared her salmon and cream, while she tends to follow him around their flat.

"I’m pretty much a kitten 24/7 because I float in and out of it so effortlessly," she told viewers. "I wear my ears to work and I never take them off – I try not to let people see me without them."

Adam said: "I've always been a caretaker. I've always liked being that dominant figure that likes not really to have someone underneath them but someone to take care of. It makes me feel fulfilled in a relationship to take care of her entirely."

All her friends and colleagues said they wouldn't recognise her now without her ears and have embraced her looks. But Abigail said 'creepy men' can be rude online.

"No one has a right to judge someone else for being happy," said Abigail. "What I love about being in this relationship is he is the first person that I have actually had a physical attraction to, I do find him attractive.

"Being a kitten, especially now I have someone who supports it, it makes me feel safe - just innocently happy."

Dozens of people responded to their podcast praising their relationship. One person wrote: "They are happy with each other that's all that matters."

Another wrote: "This is sooooo cute!", a third said: "Beautiful couple, always keep your love strong."
