My garden is a dried-out dustbowl – should I recycle water?

Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it’s up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday’s paper.

Our garden is starting to resemble a dried-out dustbowl, but my partner refuses to get the hose out, insisting our water bills are high enough already. He’s suggested recycling the bath water, but can you do this? I’m already collecting some of the shower water; are there any other tricks I’m missing?
