A woman does not want to attend her friend's hen party as it would set her back £320 and she has not even been invited to the wedding.
The hen party is due to include spa treatments like massages and facials which she was quite looking forward to but she thought it might cost around £150.
However, she was shocked to learn it would cost more than double that but she does not know how to back out.
The woman took to Mumsnet to explain she does not want to spend that much on something she is not too fussed about.
In the post, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "I said I would go to the hen night, figured it'd cost in/around £150 and to be honest was quite looking forward to a facial/massage. But.. £320?
"Absolutely not."
She is now trying to think of a way to get out of spending that much money by not going.
" How do I word the text that I'm not going? I'm definitely not going," she said.
"Problem is, the bride and family know I can afford it. I don't even want to go to the wedding either. I literally just don't want to pay £320 for something I'm not overly fussed on."
She added that the wedding is only for immediate family so she will not be going to the big day.
"It's a small wedding, just immediate family. 'Hi, I've just realised that I'll not be able to make the hen night. Sorry! X.' Does that cut it?"
In response, many have offered their advice to the woman and suggested ways she could back out of the hen party.
One person wrote: "Given that you're not invited to the wedding (I know you're not bothered by that, but regardless), I don't think you need to give a reason."
While another stated: "Your short sweet version is absolutely fine but I might be inclined to explain why if you'd go to a less expensive celebration."
A third penned: "I think if it's the cost, just say that. 'Sorry that's way out of my budget, would love to come. Have a great night! X"
