When you're house-sitting for a friend, it's important to clean up before you leave. But you wouldn't expect to be sent a bill if you forgot to tidy up everywhere.
So it's not hard to imagine the shock one woman felt when her friend of twelve years demanded she pay up.
The 24-year-old woman accidentally spilled cheese in the oven and then forgot to clear it away. When her pal went to tidy up after her, she found the stain wouldn't budge, and to make matters worse her efforts scratched the brand-new oven.
It was then that the homeowner decided her friend should be held accountable, as she wanted the oven to be replaced.

Stunned, the housesitter, who'd been doing her friend a favour by looking after her dog, did not know what to do.
Turning to Reddit for advice, the messy eater explained: "I used her oven on the day before they got back. I couldn't find the tray, so I used the grill with paper on it, so I could bake my pizza (do this all the time at home and it went fine every single time).
"After I was done with the oven I noticed a bit of cheese on the bottom that fell of the pizza while baking. I totally forgot to clean it that night, so when my friend got back the next day, she noticed it."
Soon after, the friend grew upset. As the housesitter recounted: "She was upset because she had to clean it. I apologized and didn't hear from her for the next hour. Then she texted me that her whole oven was ruined and that she couldn't get the stain out."
Her message was accompanied by a photo showing 'lots of scratches' across the bottom of the oven, and the homeowner demanded her pal covered the cost.
"Now she is asking me to call my insurance for a new oven. I'm stunned and don't know if I'm overreacting? So, [Am I the A****e] for not indirectly paying for her new oven?" the post concluded.
But commenters each shared differing views. One person thought: "You shouldn't leave messes behind when you're house sitting.
"Also, just because you use the cardboard in your own oven doesn't mean you should be doing that in other people's oven. Not all ovens heat the same way."
Another put: "It was rude of you to not clean the oven, but whatever she did caused the scratches because she must not have followed the proper cleaning methods for the oven."
However, a third replied: "No, a new oven is not justified here. But you absolutely should have cleaned it yourself or offered to pay to have it cleaned professionally."
