A woman got into an Uber to head home and ended up being mocked the entire way. In a TikTok video with more than 726,000 views, Domenica Corral (@domluvr4) shared footage she recorded during the uncomfortable ride.
What happened on this Uber ride?
The Uber driver began with what seemed like standard small talk, asking whether Corral was attending college in the area. But the conversation quickly took a turn.
When Corral said she was majoring in psychology, the driver immediately responded, “You’ll be making no [expletive] money.” Corral appeared visibly uncomfortable and tried to defend her choice, explaining she planned to pursue more schooling.
Instead of backing off, the driver doubled down. “Why go to school after? You’re just going to put yourself in even more debt,” he said.
Corral calmly replied that it would work out in the long run. The driver responded with another jab: “What are you going to do, study the effects of eating fries at McDonald’s?” He then clarified: “I’m saying you’re going to be working at McDonald’s.”
The conversation shifted further when he added, “You should be a nurse, though. Nurses are pretty [expletive] hot.” He then told Corral directly, “I’m not going to lie, you’re pretty hot.”
Psych majors — How much do they make?
Despite the driver’s claims that psychology majors don’t generate significant income, supplemental research begs to differ. If Corral pursued a master’s in psychology, there’s a strong possibility she’d make the U.S average, $91,550 per year. In Los Angeles, California, that average goes up to $119,855.
Those at private practices who pursue additional licenses have reported making upward of $120,000+, depending on the location, on online blogs.
Negging – When it happens and how to see it
Many TikTok commenters pointed out that the driver was using a common tactic called negging, a form of manipulation that disguises insults as compliments.
According to VeryWellMind, negging is “a manipulation tactic that involves slipping an insult into something disguised as a compliment. It’s a way of undermining a person’s confidence, often while trying to get their attention or affection.”
Often associated with pickup culture and online communities like the “manosphere,” negging is considered a form of verbal abuse. It involves breaking down a person’s self-esteem through subtle digs, then rebuilding it with compliments to make them feel dependent on the manipulator’s approval.
As one commenter pointed out, “He… [is] intimidated [because] you’re educated, so he’s discouraging you so you don’t feel as though you’re above him. Hence, you’ll be more likely to entertain him.”

TikTok commenters weigh in
Commenters didn’t hold back in calling out the driver’s behavior.
“You could have said, ‘Yeah, you’re right, maybe I’ll end up driving an Uber,’” one user wrote.
“Men should be shamed more,” another added.
“He even sounds like a Neanderthal,” someone else commented.
The Mary Sue has reached out to Corral via TikTok direct message and Uber via email for comment.
