Chetana S caught COVID while she was caring for her COVID positive brother. While her brother recovered fully, she is still facing weakness and other long COVID signs. Here is her story
I started showing symptoms like mild head ache and sore throat on May 5. My brother had already tested positive and was in isolation. As he was isolated, I ended up doing all chores and cooking. I wasn't feeling tired or any body ache but I was not getting proper sleep due to stress. After two weeks, my brother was back to being fine but I wasn't. I started having fatigue, weakness, joint pain, body pains from May 20. I then learnt these are post COVID recovery symptoms. That means virus is gone and I am on recovery! But the RTPCR I got on May 24 came positive. Doc said it must be the dead virus, and advised me to continue taking zinc and vit-c tab.
I was able to do my work and small chores. Another 2 weeks passed but my weakness did not improve. By mid June, it seemed my weakness was increasing and I could not do anything. I was not able to stand for 5 minutes. I couldn’t even go to my terrace...I was able to climb stairs but could not stand for 5 minutes. So again I got a blood test done and everything was normal except for vit-d deficiency. Many said that's why my weakness increased. I started taking supplements. I was doing breathing exercises as well.
By June end, I thought I will improve as my breathing was getting better. But by end of June, I got my periods and boom, I was terribly weak and was again not getting proper sleep. Now it's July 2nd, I am still terribly weak. I don't know what I should do. I eat well, fruits, dry fruits, protein powder, supplements. I feel VERY weak while I write this. It's been 7 weeks since my first day of symptoms. I am tired of everything. Docs said as all blood reports are normal, no need to worry, but this weakness is getting to me. I wasn't feeling this bad until last week. Now I only have to eat well, rest and wait!
