'My cousin fumed that she couldn't bring her kids to my wedding - so I kicked her out'

A newlywed woman has faced backlash from her family after kicking her cousin out of the wedding after her fury at seeing the bride's kids at the childfree event.

The cousin had tried to get her own kids invited to the event as she was unable to find a babysitter for them but the bride said the kids were not her problem.

In a Reddit post, the newlywed bride, who remained anonymous, said her kids were allowed into the event as it was their parents getting married but the pair were strict on the childfree rule for everyone else. One cousin wasn't happy with the arrangement, and it caused uproar.

The recently married woman explained: "We decided on a childfree wedding because we don't want kids running around but we still decided to have our own as a part of an important day.

"All three of them are good at being still and quiet for some time and we promised them presents if they behave."

"Now on our wedding day everything started good. The ceremony started and it went great, the kids behaved as we hoped and they were happy to finally get food," explained the woman.

"When we were outside my cousin walked up to me and asked why the kids were there. I told her why and she got mad.

"She shouted at me that I have no right to have my kids here if hers can't be here too and that I'm selfish. My aunt calmed her down and we kicked my cousin out of the wedding."

The cousin was far from impressed with this and took to Facebook to air her frustration.

However, many Redditors have come to the bride's defence and said it is her wedding so her rules.

One person wrote: "Having your own kids there is completely different to having other people’s kids there."

While another said: "Of course the bride and groom's own children and siblings are acceptable exceptions to the childfree rule!"

A third penned: "Your wedding, your children, your memories."
