A mum whose 'best friend' ruined her wedding with horrible lies spoke out about the devastation she has caused.
Kimberley Baker thought she had landed a dream job in children's services alongside bridesmaid-to-be Helen Dove.
But Dove had manufactured this imaginary job, and played the role of fictional employees - costing Kimberley upwards of £50,000 in debt, and forcing her to cancel her wedding.
Joined by her fiancé Phillip, Kimberley shared her terrifying story of betrayal with Holly and Phil on This Morning.
Kimberley said: "She was kind and caring a friend that you wouldn't think anything of really.
"She had got me an application form from 'Warrington Borough Council' which had the reference on the top.
"And it went from there."
Liverpool Crown Court heard Dove created a sophisticated network of fake colleagues - and sent thousands of emails on their behalf - to convince Kimberley she had landed the role at Warrington Borough Council.
The elaborate scam was eventually busted after the 43-year-old became sick of not being paid - the lack of wages leading her to cancelling her dream wedding.
When Dove showed her a forged bank statement Kimberley went to the local authority and found out no-one under her best friend's name was employed at the organisation.
Phillip said: "This is how come it went on for so long. Because she was such a close friend, we were saying, 'Well what's she got to gain from this?'
"I know it sounds daft, but I think she wanted what we had, happiness. A family unit. She wanted to be part of something."
Kimberley said: "W'eve lost the wedding, we've lost £50,000 and one of the biggest impacts now is trust.
"I don't feel nothing[sic] for her, at first it was like grieving for a person who is still alive.
"So when we found out it was a massive shock."
Dove, of Prescot Road in St Helens, was jailed for two years and eight months.
She had admitted two counts of fraud by false representation.
