My Cause, My Cleats: Eagles Shareef Miller using his platform to help end ‘Gun Violence’

As part of the collaboration between the NFL and players, players from around the league will represent hundreds of charitable organizations that focus on amazing causes.

For Eagles rookie and Philly native Shareef Miller, “MY Cause, My Cleats” will take on a significant meaning this season, as he looks to raise awareness for gun violence.

The sorrow that comes from senseless gun violence and shooting hits close to home for Miller, who had to deal with his brother, Mikal, being shot and killed in 2015 right before the talented defensive end was set to leave for Penn State.

On Sunday Miller will wear a special pair of custom cleats, with his brother’s face on them and a message that states, “We Can End Gun Violence.”

He posted a photo of the cleats to his Instagram page.

At the NovaCare Complex on Friday, Miller gave more insight into his cause while speaking with ABCs Jeff Skversky.

Miller has only been active one time this season, against the Buffalo Bills back in Week 8.
