‘My brother, this isn’t garlic and we’re not vampires’: Zohran Mamdani demolishes racist MAGA morons

The Democratic Party is currently anxiously wringing its hands as it figures out what to do about Zohran Mamdani. They’re terrified of the young, charismatic, wildly popular, socialist politician who’s already scored an unexpected triumph over his fossilized sex pest competition. What if *gulp* he wins?

As usual, this is a classic case of the Democrats looking a gift horse in the mouth. Guys, even with Trump in the White House, everyone still hates you, you’re presenting zero effective opposition, have apparently no plan to change, and are promising the “more of the same” tactics that just saw you suffer a crushing defeat. You should hold onto this guy that people actually like for dear life!

Anyhow, as proof that the Democrats should be looking for inspiration from Mamdani rather than frantically trying to eliminate him, look no further than this fantastic response to a racist post aimed at him.

A user posted an image of some sizzling bacon, apparently convinced that the mere sight of it would disgust and repel Muslims. Then another reposted that and tagged Mamdani, telling him “bone-petite”. Mamdani’s response:

“my brother, this isn’t garlic and we’re not vampires”

Even by racist standards, this is stupid

The bizarre delusion that Muslims don’t just not eat pork, but they’ll be horrified at seeing even a picture of it, is widespread amongst the very stupidest racists. The only way an image of sizzling bacon is likely to offend a Muslim is when it’s used against them in a racist way, and then *duh* it’s the racism that’s offensive, not the bacon!

All that’s neatly summarized by Mamdani’s short reply. As the replies quickly point out, this is just yet more evidence that racists may not be the sharpest knives in the drawer:

In any event, even if exposure to an image of pork was offensive to Islam (which, we underline, it isn’t), that still wouldn’t matter. While pork is forbidden (haram), the notion that contact, interaction, or accidental ingestion of pork guarantees damnation is untrue.

Islamic scholars say only intentional consumption is a sin and that forced or incidental contact has no spiritual consequences. In fact, scholars’ advice for a muslim who accidentally consumes pork is just to rinse their mouth out and forget about it.

But none of that’s going to get through to the knuckle-draggers who see pork as muslim kryptonite. On the bright side, at least people doing this make it very easy to identify them as both hateful and dumb!
