'My boyfriend wants virtual sex in lockdown but I'm too shy'

Dear Coleen

During lockdown I've been isolating apart from my boyfriend because he lives 30 miles away and has had to carry on going out to work during the Covid crisis.

A few times, he's suggested having "sex" via a video call, but I'm not keen. I don't want him to think I've lost interest in him (or for him to lose interest in me), but just wouldn't feel relaxed doing it.

I'm not a prude or anything - love our sex life - but I suppose I'm quite shy and would feel self-conscious or silly being on camera. I don't think I could relax enough to let go and enjoy it.

Have you any ideas?

Coleen says

If you're not comfortable doing it, then don't do it and don't feel bad about it. I imagine lots of people would feel the same. It's not for everyone!

Explain it to your boyfriend the way you have to me - you love your sex life, you're missing him and missing sex, but you'd feel too self-conscious to get it on via videocam. There are other options - what about good old-fashioned phone sex where you can't see each other.

That might be even hotter, talking about what you're doing or want to do. You can also send each other sexy messages during the day to get you in the mood for phone sex later.
