A mum claims her birthday celebrations were ruined after she got a botched eyelash treatment. The mum, who wishes to remain unnamed, went to visit a nail and eyelash salon a few days before her birthday so she could get pampered and prepared for her plans.
But her afternoon appointment didn't go to plan and she says the technician that did her lashes cut off her natural lashes. The woman also claims the glue on the artificial lashes stuck her eyes shut when she tried to blink.
Speaking to Yorkshire Live, she said: "She charged me £25. She cut my natural eyelashes off causing me to have hardly any eyelashes at all!"
And the mum says her horror only got worse after, as a doctor has since told her she has developed an infection. She said: "Not also that but I now have an infection called conjunctivitis."
Conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, is inflammation of the outermost layer of the white part of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelid. It makes the eye appear pink or reddish and is usually accompanied by pain, burning, scratchiness, or itchiness.
The most common causes of the disease are viral or bacterial, but in some cases it may be caused by allergies. But the mum, 22, is adamant it was caused by the lash treatment. She says, although initially she just wanted a refund, she no longer wants the money back.
She said: "When I told the boss which is the one who did it, I got told I’d done it myself and I wouldn’t be able to have a refund. Then I posted on Facebook and they told me to take it down or I will not get my refund.
"At this point I don’t and will not want a refund as I have infections in my eyes. She was really rude blocked me then unblocked me."
The mum says the entire ordeal ruined her birthday. She said: "This is where you can see my bottom lashes are cut and my extensions are stuck to my eyelids. This was for my birthday as it was Sunday now I have to suffer with the loss of my lashes and an infection."
The mum added that she is still battling the infection, and her symptoms have not got better. She said: "My eyes are itching and yellow gunk is coming out too it’s really itchy and I have to go to the doctors for medication."
On social media, the mum claimed the local business, had blocked her after she complained, before later unblocking her and asking her to take down social media posts if she wanted a refund.
YorkshireLive contacted the salon for comment. The business declined to comment.
