Breaking up with a partner is never ever - no matter how you choose to separate. But what happens if they remain too close for comfort?
Taking to popular forum Reddit, a woman has claimed that her best friend moved onto her ex-boyfriend shortly after they separated.
Admitting that she wouldn't let the duo get away with the sour move, the woman took it upon herself to get cruel revenge. After she detailed her snide response online, people are describing it as the 'pettiest thing [they've] ever seen'.
Captioning the post, the woman wrote: "My girlfriend made a move on the boyfriend I had just broken up with."

She explained in the thread: "This story takes place back in the 80s. I met my first boyfriend at 14.
"We moved in together when I turned 18 and six months later I realised I wasn't really in love with him anymore. He was my first and he was an ok guy but I felt I was too young.
"A week after I moved out, I call him one night to see how he was doing and to organise so I can come and pick up a few things.
"I hear talking in the background. I asked who it was and he said it was my best friend at the time (f18), he said they were now together.
"So here is my petty revenge. A few days later I called him to say that I regretted breaking up with him and asked if he wanted to take me back.
"He said yes so he broke it off with her. She called me mad and crying. Then I proceeded to break up with him again but this time for good. I was young, it was a bitchy move and petty," the woman added.
After sharing the story to the popular r/pettyrevenge subreddit - which boasts more than 3.5 million members - she raked in over 200 comments.
Flocking to the comment section, Reddit users praised the woman for her response - with one person saying: "I've been reading this sub for years and this very well may be the pettiest thing I've seen."
Someone else wrote: "They asked for petty… they thought they wanted the petty…. But they were not ready for it."
"That is more petty than I’d expect from even this sub," a third added.
Meanwhile, a different user wrote: "You made her feel like second-class. Good on you. She thought she was tough s*** swooping in on your ex. Only to be reminded that she ain't worth s***."
