My Beach Resort Phuket

A yacht fleet was drifting leisurely in Chalong Bay as storm clouds were gathering when I arrived at My Beach Resort Phuket. I lounged to enjoy the nice sea breeze that flowed over the lobby. My Beach Resort Phuket has been designated as a beachfront boutique resort in Michelin Guide, featuring sea view rooms that provide a stunning sunset.

This elegant low-rise resort sits on tranquil Panwa beach alongside various tourist attractions such Khao Khad viewpoint, Phuket aquarium, Ao Yon beach and Ton Ao Yon waterfall, making it a perfect holiday hideaway for urbanites wishing to escape the fast-paced life and indulge in the beauty of nature.

Just a 9km drive from Phuket Old Town, it looks shady with the surrounding mountains and the sheltered coastline assuring calm sea throughout the year, while its west-facing location allows guests to see an astonishing sunset over the mountain, which is home to the Big Buddha.

Design and Facilities

Simple but sleek, this property is designed in modern-minimalist style to transform every corner into a vantage point for visitors to gaze out over the blue-green waters of the Andaman Sea. Ranging in size from 38m² to 48m², it has 77 luxury rooms in different types from Deluxe, Deluxe Pool View and Premier Pool Access to Premier Seaview, Premier Seaview Studio, Premier Beachfront and Private Pool Beachfront to provide extra comfort.

Set against a backdrop of a white sand beach and ocean, a pair of infinity-edge swimming pools with sundecks and a lap pool for children become a favourite resting spot for guests to bathe or lie down on a row of loungers to absorb vitamin D and enjoy reading during the day.

Those who want to put their bodies to the test and increase their adrenaline levels can jump into the sea and surf the waves in a see-through crystal-like kayak and paddle board while exploring the aquatic world. Sportsmen can continue their training programme at a small but well-equipped fitness centre to keep fit and firm.

Late afternoon guests may visit My Lounge on the 2nd floor to refuel with a fusion of Thai and Western-style nibbles and crafted cocktails in an easygoing atmosphere while taking in a striking 270-degree panorama of the bay.

When Phuket was under lockdown last year, the resort took advantage of this situation to extend its offerings by launching the My Soul spa. It provides a variety of relaxing treatments such as oil massage and traditional Thai massage to relieve tension as well as after-sun treatments to revitalise skin and spirit.

The Panta conference room is the most recent addition to the property. To create a more pleasurable atmosphere and foster creativity, a Bangkok-based graffiti artist created murals for its walls.

Those planning a day trip can use the hotel's shuttle service to Central Phuket, which departs at midday and returns at 4pm, Monday to Friday.

My Room

I stayed overnight in a 38m² Premier Pool Access with modern design. The room is decorated in earth tones and wood furnishings to give a warm and comfortable atmosphere. There's a huge flat-screen television with satellite channels as well as a long marble-like work desk with plug outlets for guests to charge their batteries and access the internet.

A huge closet provides a safety box, slippers and a digital scale, while a minibar corner is stocked with snacks and drinks as well as a coffee maker and tea amenities. Behind the door is a black granite-like bathroom with enough space for a large sink counter, separate shower and toilet.

I spent much of my spare time in a plush king-size bed, gazing out the enormous glass ceiling-to-floor windows towards the sea and sunset. Another favourite spot was a private balcony, where I could sit and put my toes in a large swimming pool that connects the two buildings.

Dining

My Cafe is a poolside all-day dining restaurant that serves a breakfast buffet with a variety of culinary alternatives. The resort's signature eggs benedict with crabmeat, sliced avocados and a Hollandaise sauce inspired by stir-fried crab curry powder is highlighted. There are additional options for American-style breakfast, dim sum, Thai dishes, salad bar, cheese and freshly baked pastries.

For lunch and dinner, guests can sample authentic southern-style specialities such as a set of nam prik kung siab (spicy dried shrimp dip) served with boiled eggs, fried eggplants and fresh vegetables; khanom jeen gaeng poo (rice noodle with crab meat curry); and fried fish in sour and sweet tamarind sauce.

Verdict

My Beach Resort Phuket is nestled on Panwa Beach, which is known for its tranquillity. It's close to downtown Phuket and many tourist attractions, making it an ideal refuge for urban vacationers looking to appreciate nature while being connected to modern life.

Until Aug 31, holidaymakers can take advantage of the Breezy Summer Package that includes a two-night stay and breakfast. The prices start from 6,278 baht and direct bookings will receive a free extra bed and meals for children under the age of 16 as well as a 500 baht credit during the stay.

My Beach Resort Phuket is at 105 Mu 8, Ao Yon Road, Amphur Muang, Phuket 83000. Call 076-305-066 or visit mybeachphuket.com.
