My bank has stopped its deposit service – where can I store my valuables?

Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it’s up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday’s paper.

This week’s question:

For a long time I’ve stored some of my family’s valuables in a safety deposit box at my bank, but it has now withdrawn the service. None of the other banks offer it. Are there other firms that let you rent a box, or do I have to buy a safe? Any other options?
