'My baby sleeps in the wardrobe because we don’t have space for a nursery'

Becoming a parent is a daunting task - especially when mummy influencers make it look so easy, with their perfectly decorated nurseries, flawless bump selfies and top of the range equipment.

But, as all mums and dads will tell you, the truth is that parenthood is messy, tiring, stressful and certainly not Instagram-worthy. Well, most of the time.

That's exactly the point one mum has chosen to make, after revealing that not only does she not have one of those Instagram-worthy nurseries for her baby, but he actually doesn't have a bedroom at all, and sleeps in the wardrobe instead.

And make sure other parents know it's okay (kindred.spirits.photography/Instagram)

Taking to Instagram, kindred.spirits.photography shared a video of her little boy looking very happy and content in his basinet, in the family's walk in wardrobe, below a shelf lined with pairs of shoes.

"I wanted to commemorate where he spent the first few months of his life so he can always berate me that I let him sleep in a closet," she wrote alongside the post.

"Real talk: For everyone out there who sees these perfect nurseries, you’re not the only one who doesn’t have a dedicated room for your baby that’s been decorated by Joanna Gaines. That’s awesome if you do! But you’re not alone if you don’t."

The little boy is visibly happy in the clips and clearly doesn't care where he sleeps, but nevertheless, the mum's post has left parents divided over whether it's an appropriate spot for him to sleep in.

"Sooo putting your kids in closets is okay now? Jesus what is wrong with people," one disapproving commenter wrote, while another added: "Yeah, just not next to the shoes. What the hell, the shoes are the dirtiest, at least move it to the centre."

Meanwhile, others praised the mum, with one commenting: "So nice to see this! Our baby also sleeps in our closet!"

"I love this! I also never had a nursery for either boys. Just the guest room with a pack n’ play. We never even bothered with a real crib or toddler bed. Went straight for the twin size mattress," another added.

As long as he's happy and healthy, that's all that matters. Well done, mama.
