'My 16-year-old daughter took her own life but her organs saved six other people'

The mum of a 16-year-old girl who tragically died has spoken about how "proud" she is of her daughter after her organs were donated.

Sky Lewis, a pupil at Eastern High School in Cardiff , died on July 31 after struggling with her mental health.

Her mum, Michaela Fry, 34, from Rumney , says she believes she took her own life.

But now Michaela says six people will benefit from her daughter's death after Sky had chosen to donate her organs.

"She was lovely," Michaela said. "All parents say that, but she always wanted to know how people were.

"She could always tell if people were down.

"It didn't matter is she was upset, she would get joy out of helping people.

"She was struggling herself with depression, and growing up in general as well.

"She would always come across as happy, but I knew there was something was going on.

"She didn't tell me because she didn't want me to get upset."

Tragically, Sky died on July 31. She was just 16 years old.

But now, six people are set to receive her organs, after Sky wanted to help others - even after her death.

"We had a discussion when she was 10 years old about organ donation," Michaela said.

"She was really up for it and never changed her mind since.

"She told me: 'Take whatever people need, mum, for others.'

"I'm proud of her. She always thought about other people.

"But she was so concerned about other people that she forgot about herself.

"Sky has gone, but she's living on in at least six people's lives.

"She was a diamond."

A fundraising page has been set up in her memory (Michaela Fry)

"She didn't just bring joy to my life, but to so many.

"I feel so proud of her and the person she was. In such a short life, she had such a huge impact."
