Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) Dr. Mohammed al-Issa has called for harmony and deriving lessons from history, stressing that the propaganda of extremist groups is only active in stagnant cultural and social environments.

Issa said vigilant Muslims can defeat this propaganda.

During a Friday sermon, delivered at the Grand Mosque in Tatarstan, Issa said that true Muslims respect unity and the laws of the countries in which they live, seeking harmony with everyone, regardless of their religion or nationality.

He warned against recalling historical events and drawing analogies to a current situation. The responsibility of each historical era rests only with the people who lived in it, he explained.

Issa noted that national and religious identity integrate together for the sake of serving the mutual goal.

A true Muslim stands staunchly against extremism, and his actions and morals speak for him, added Issa.

A true Muslim has a positive energy that reflects on others, a true Muslim does not practice any means of hatred or racism, but he is in fact a stability anchor who coexists with everyone despite their religions and cultural backgrounds, he continued.

Issa stressed the need to improve understanding for the benefit of all, saying that “extremism can only win with a lack of awareness.”

He cautioned worshippers against conflict and division, pointing out that Islamic law calls for learning from others and from the lessons of history.

He expressed delight at Russian officials affirming that the Islamic culture is an integral part of the historic and culture components of Russia.
