The Muslim World League (MWL) announced a one million dollar contribution to the UNHCR, supporting refugee communities around the world.
It also expressed readiness to take part in a number of UN projects designed to improve needy people’s quality of life worldwide.
This occurred during the Responsible Leaders Summit held at the UN in New York in the attendance of the MWL and a huge international presence. The summit tackled a number of matters related to enriching human life physically and spiritually and hindering obstacles for a better life.
MWL secretary-general Mohammed al-Issa said in his inaugural speech that responsible leadership is the main pillar in establishing justice and harmony among all countries.
Participants tackled the economic inequality and the widening gap between rich and poor in developed and developing countries in the past decades. They also called for environmental protection.
Attendees, further, emphasized the importance of faith as a factor uniting people instead of dividing them -- they underscored the importance of eliminating grounds that produce groups such as ISIS, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and neo-Nazis.
The summit also discussed gender equality, with everyone agreeing that inequality between women and men hinders countries’ advancement.
