Muswellbrook house fire deemed suspicious as cause investigated: police

A MUSWELLBROOK house fire that extensively damaged one room of the property has been deemed suspicious, police say.

Investigations are underway after emergency services were called to Dangar Place about 8.30pm on Sunday night.

Firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the flames and contained the blaze to a single room.

The occupant was not home at the time and no injuries were reported, police said.

Hunter Valley officers established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances around the blaze.

"While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, it has been deemed as suspicious," police said in a statement.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
