A 73-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman in her 60s was found with serious head injuries in north London.
The woman is fighting for life after being found seriously hurt in a property in Steeds Road, Muswell Hill.
Officers were called to the scene at around 11.45pm on Tuesday night.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called to a residential property in Steeds Road, N10, at 23.45hrs on Tuesday, 27 August to reports of a woman injured.
"Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS).
"A woman, in her 60s, was found with serious head and neck injuries. She was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where she is in a critical condition."
The 73-year-old man who has been arrested is in custody in a north London police station.
A crime scene is in place and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
