Elon Musk has challenged Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella over comments allegedly made by employees of Microsoft’s gaming division, Activision Blizzard, celebrating the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
The contentious posts were supposedly made by developers and employees of Activision Blizzard on social media platform X.
Musk, in response to the post, tagged Nadella, seeking an explanation for the incident. “What's going on here, @satyanadella?” the Tesla and SpaceX CEO questioned.
Charlie Kirk, a fervent supporter of President Donald Trump, was assassinated on Wednesday at the Utah Valley University campus.
The alleged shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was apprehended after confessing to a family member. Utah Governor Spencer Cox has classified the incident as a politically motivated “assassination”.
This incident has sparked controversy and raised questions about the responsibility of tech companies in moderating content on their platforms.
The alleged comments by Activision Blizzard employees, if true, could potentially harm Microsoft’s reputation and customer trust. Furthermore, it underscores the need for a robust mechanism to prevent the spread of harmful content on social media platforms.
