Several musicians, including award-winning contemporary Scottish folk band Breabach, will be putting on shows in Lochwinnoch next month.
The gigs will be funded by the Scottish Government’s Scotland on Tour fund - which was created to reverse the impact on the music industry brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Breabach will be appearing at McKillop Institute in Lochwinnoch on Saturday, October 1, while Pauline Vallance and Shelagh McKay, with Roseanne Reid, will all perform at Lochwinnoch Golf Club on Saturday, October 15 .

Glasgow-based Breabach combine Highland and Island tradition with innovative musical concepts to create a truly unique sound.
Together for 17 years, the band has showcased their music all over the world, including live sets at Sydney Opera House and at Central Park, New York City. They have racked up an impressive amount of accolades over the years, including five Scots Trad Music Awards, nominations as ‘Best Group’ in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and ‘European Album of the Year’ in The Songlines Music Awards.
Their performance at McKillop Institute comes shortly before the release of their new album Fàs, out mid October.
James Lindsay of Breabach said: “Scotland on Tour is such a great initiative and it is benefiting so many people, from musicians to community members, so we are honoured to be part of it.”
The Scotland on Tour fund is not only designed to support musicians, but also the venues hosting them, without which there would be nowhere for the musicians to showcase their work.
“Smaller venues really give you a chance to connect with your audience and we’re looking forward to embracing the community spirit at the McKillop Institute in Lochwinnoch. We can’t wait to let audiences hear some of our new material too.” Said James.
Dr Morag Thow, co-founder of the Lochwinnoch Arts Festival said: “We are delighted to have Breabach back to Lochwinnoch for their second visit. We are also delighted to be having our first event as part of Scotland on tour programme in our newly refurbished McKillop Institute, our beautiful village hall.”
Singer-songwriter Shelagh McKay Jones from Greenock performs traditional folk music, as well as Americana, pop and world fusion.
Pauline Vallance, also a singer-songwriter, loves sharing stories and expressing her own thoughts and experiences through music and song. Her subject matter varies from provocative and intense to lighthearted and joyful. Drawing comparisons to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Ayrshire born Pauline loves to play in varied venues, from volcanoes to riverboats.
And Roseanne Reid grew up with a strong appreciation of music, being the daughter of The Proclaimers’ Craig Reid.
Pauline Vallance said: “Shelagh and I are really looking forward to our gig at Lochwinnoch and are delighted to have Roseanne supporting us. We all love to tell stories through our music, and I think we complement each other well in our work. I will personally be launching my new album The World's a Gift on the night, so am eager to see what the lovely people of Lochwinnoch think!”
