Musician Tim Burgess in plea for petrol ahead of his gig in Cardiff tonight

Lead singer of The Charlatans, Tim Burgess, has tweeted his fans asking where he can fill up in Cardiff ahead of his performance at Clwb Ifor Bach tonight.

The rock singer is currently on a solo tour of the UK and is making his way from Kendal, in the Lake District, to the Welsh capital amid the current fuel shortage.

As many struggle to get fuel after petrol stations ran out of fuel due to panic buying the government has suspended competition laws for fuel and is considering sending in the Armed Forces to deliver fuel.

Tim has tweeted out asking for help about where he can get fuel from in and around Cardiff, as although he has enough to get to his Cardiff gig on Monday, September 27 he won't be able to make it to his next gig in Nottingham.

He said: "Errm, we have enough fuel to get us to Cardiff but the last 5 petrol stations have none. If anyone can help with details of where can get diesel in/around Cardiff, we can continue with the tour"

He tagged Nadine Dorries, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps saying: "Quit saying there aren't shortages".

The tweet currently has 32 replies with people recommending fuel stations in different areas, such as Llandaff and around Newport.

Tim also promised to update his followers once he is able to get fuel but he had not confirmed any success at the time this story was published.
