Monsta X hit Bangkok

Only a few K-pop groups are big enough to tour Europe, the US and South America. The seven-member group, Monsta X, did it last year. And their powerful and entertaining performances won them Best Concert Performer at the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards and Best Entertainer at the 2017 Asia Artist Awards.

As a part of their second world tour, the guys recently visited Thailand. One day before their concert on June 30, the guys - leader Show-nu, 26, Won-ho, 26, Min-hyuk, 24, Ki-hyun, 24, Hyung-won, 24, Joo-heon, 23 and I.M, 22 - met Thai press and lucky fans for a press conference. Here are some highlights of the interview.

Can you tell us about your single, "Jealousy"?

Joo-heon: This song is our first single from our sixth album, The Connect: Dejavu. It's about a guy who is head over heels in love with a girl who often makes him feel jealous. It’s a good song.

Is it true that Won-ho co-wrote a song?

Won-ho: Yes. I wrote the song, "If Only." We have many songs with strong beats, so I wanted to make a song with a beautiful but simple melody. I'm glad that the fans like it.

Ki-hyun and Joo-heon, how do you feel about singing, "Can't Breathe," for the TV drama, Investigation Couple?

Ki-hyun: I sang on a soundtrack before I was a member of Monsta X. I haven't sung with Joo-heon for a while. We spent only an hour working together in the studio. It was great.

Hyung-won, how was being a DJ at the electronic music festival, Ultra Korea?

Hyung-won: EDM is very captivating music. I felt thankful to have this opportunity. I will practice to get better. If I have a chance, I will DJ in Thailand.

If you took your fan club, Monbebe, out in Korea, where would you take them?

Joo-heon: Hongdae is a chilled out area. It’s a shopping spot. There’s lots of food and street performances. It’s fun.

What should fans prepare for the concert?

Show-nu: They should eat a lot because they’ll use a lot of energy having fun at our show.
